Mjolnir is the hammer of Thor in Norse mythology. Thor is the Norse god of thunder, and his hammer is depicted as one of the most fearsome and powerful weapons in mythology, capable of leveling entire cities or mountains. Thor wore iron gloves to hold onto Mjolnir, and also a special belt.
The Mjolnir had many special qualities. It could only be lifted by Thor, or an individual in possession of both the belt and the gloves, and it would also return to the thrower after being thrown, like a boomerang. The extremely short handle of the hammer was a result of a mishap during the manufacturing process.
The Mjolnir is considered to be a symbol of Thor’s power.
